Greensburg Alliance Church
...growing in passion for God and compassion for people.

The History of

Greensburg Alliance Church

As time passed, the treasury made possible the rental of halls for services as well as compensation for those filling the pulpit.  Finally, with the advent of the 1920's, a lot was purchased on the corners of East Third Street and Alwine Avenue, and there came into being the Tabernacle that encouraged increased membership.

In 1932, an addition was put on the tabernacle and a parsonage was constructed at this site.  In 1953, a new church was built on the corner of Westmoreland and State Streets in Greensburg.  It only took three years for the land and mortgage to be paid in full.  In 1987, the land at the corner of Route 136 and Baltzer-Meyer Pike was purchased.  The land was paid for prior to the construction of the new building, which was finished in 1996.

From then until now, the following buildings were occupied:

1906 -- Masonic Hall, Main Street, Greensburg

1921 -- Building -- South Main Street, Greensburg

1932 -- Building -- East Third Street and Alwine Avenue, Greensburg

1952 Building -- Westmoreland and State Streets, Greensburg

1996 -- Building -- Route 136 and Baltzer-Meyer Pike, Hempfield Township
